Ray Viles Ford Helps AVFD
Ray Viles Ford has made what amounts to a $6,000 donation to the Andersonville Volunteer Fire Department, they just made it in the form of a pickup truck. The AVFD purchased the vehicle at a much reduced cost from the local Ford dealership, a Ford F250 Diesel 4 door 4x4 pickup truck.
This truck will be of tremendous help to the AVFD as it will provide us with a vehicle that we can use to respond to medical First Responder calls and Motor Vehicle Accidents (about 85% of our calls), without sending the bigger pumper that is more expensive to operate. Brakes for example on the bigger pumper might cost as much as $2000 but on the smaller pickup, it may only cost $300, not to mention fuel, maneuverability, and quickness.
This pickup will initially be equipped with all the Medical equipment needed to save lives until the more advanced life support ambulances arrive on scene. Within the next 3 months, this truck will be equipped with all the vehicle rescue tools and some firefighting equipment.
When thanking Ray Viles Ford Representative Ray Varner, he said they were “happy to help provide the AVFD with the tools they need to do what they do best, save lives.” We thank Ray Varner and the owners of Ray Viles Ford and look forward to working together in the future to better our community together!
