The Following Information on Smokey Mountain Weekend and the Chief Officer Course is from Chief Tony Watson of Pigeon Forge. Chief Watson is President of the Sevier County Fire Chief’s Association.

Just wanted to let you know about a change to one of our training classes that we normally do at Smoky Mountain Weekend. This year, the Chief Fire Officer Development Conference will be held separately from Smoky Mountain Weekend. The Chief Fire Officer Development Conference will be held on February 6 & 7, 2010 at the Five Oaks Convention Center in Sevierville, TN. Registration packets for this conference were placed in the mail this morning. It is limited to the first 200 people to register. Registrations will be accepted on a first come-first serve basis. You can get your registration packet now by going to our website at www.seviercountyfirechiefsassociation.com . There is a tab for the Chief Fire Officer Development packet. Click on the tab and then click on the registration packet to download and print the information.

Smoky Mountain Weekend will still be held at its usual time of year (first weekend in March). This year the dates are March 6 & 7, 2010. Smoky Mountain Weekend Training Conference Registration packets will be going out in the mail by next week. Once the packets are ready to mail, the registration information will be posted on our website for downloading and printing.

Chief Fire Officer Development Conference

This program will provide a relevant educational advancement for both existing and newly appointed chief officers, as well as their designated second in command in career and volunteer departments across the state. This program is designed to target new and existing chief officers that will most likely serve in a chief officer role in the future.
